Making A Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store and add any items you wish to buy into the shopping cart.
After you have finished your selection, click ‘Checkout’, and you will be asked for any details needed to complete the order.
We accept PayPal, credit and debit card payments through the website. If you are shopping from North America or elsewhere outside the UK, your credit card company will convert the transaction to your currency using the current exchange rate. We also accept Visa and Mastercard for orders placed by post.
Although we charge for any items at the time of order, we will refund the amount paid if the items are unavailable and cannot be back-ordered.
Please note that we currently cannot sell to customers based in the EU. We apologise for this, but the current Value Added Tax and customs rules are prohibitive for our small organisation.
The Contract Between Us
Any contract for purchases made through the website will be with Great War Aviation Society, 3 St Andrews Lane, Titchmarsh, KETTERING, NN14 3DN, United Kingdom, registered number is 1117741
GWAS must receive the full payment for the goods that you order before your order can be accepted and the contract formed. Once payment has been received, GWAS will confirm that your order has been received by emailing you at the email address you provided in your registration form. The shipment email will include your name, the order number and the total price. GWAS’s acceptance of your order creates a legally binding contract between us on these terms. Any term sought to be imposed by you in your order will not form part of the contract.
GWAS are entitled to withdraw from any contract if there are obvious errors or inaccuracies regarding the goods appearing on our website. If an error or inaccuracy is discovered regarding the advertised price of the goods you ordered, we will email you as soon as possible. This email will inform you of the correct price of the goods and ask if you wish to continue with the order at the amended price or cancel the order altogether. If items are not available, you will, if at all possible, be notified by email, and the Treasurer will refund the cost, unless new stock can be obtained quickly.
Downloads will be automatically made available once the financial transaction is complete. Journal pages within downloaded files will be full-screen on a monitor set to 1600 x 900 pixels or less.
We aim to distribute physical orders promptly, but all our team members are volunteers, and delays can occur if these volunteers are away or otherwise occupied – please be patient. You should note that deliveries to the US and the Rest of the World can take up to eight weeks to arrive.
If UK customers do not receive delivery of goods within 28 days of their order, they should contact the Sales Manager.
Overseas Surface Mail customers should allow eight weeks.
We have noticed that on rare occasions, PayPal has not informed us of an order. Although we do carry out regular audits, items can be missed.
You will become the owner of the goods you have ordered when the goods are dispatched to you from our distribution centre.
If you are ordering goods for delivery outside of the UK, please note that your consignment may be subject to VAT (Value Added Tax), other taxes, customs duties and/or fees levied by the destination country. You must bear any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance. You accept that GWAS has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. GWAS recommend that you check with your local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may apply to your online order.
This is as follows:
If the goods GWAS delivers are damaged or defective, or the delivery is of an incorrect quantity, GWAS shall have no liability to you unless you notify GWAS of the problem in writing using our online contact form within ten working days of the delivery of goods in question.

If you are an overseas customer and you are still waiting to receive goods ordered by you within 56 days of the date of dispatch, you must inform GWAS in writing of the problem within 66 days of the date the goods were dispatched to you.
If you notify a problem to GWAS under this condition, GWAS’s only obligation will be, at its option, to make good any shortage or non-delivery; to replace or repair any goods that are damaged or defective, or to refund to you the amount paid by you for the goods in question to the original method of payment. GWAS shall have no liability to pay any money to you by way of compensation other than to refund you the amount you paid for the goods in question.
