ParticipantHi Paul,
These Army Orders might help.Robert
ParticipantHi Errol,
Not much to add I’m afraid.
I’m not convinced the information on his service record that was extracted from his casualty card is correct…
I have AIR1 records that cover most of the 1915 period, and records that should correspond with the service record, but they don’t.
This is what I have found: –3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. Part of a Draft held in readiness for departure overseas, which was ordered to report to Embarking Southampton by 10p.m. on 6 March 1915, to proceed overseas for duty with the Expeditionary Force (AIR1/1307/204/11/196 鈥?R.F.C. Other Ranks Overseas Drafts, Feb. 鈥?Oct. 1915)
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. Posted to Headquarters 9 March 1915 (AIR1/2146/209/3/126: Weekly compilations from R.F.C. Daily Orders Part II.)
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. H.Q. 3 Wing, Admitted to Hospital 11 April 1915 (AIR1/2146/209/3/126: Weekly compilations from R.F.C. Daily Orders Part II.)
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. Posted to Home Establishment 24 February 1916 (AIR1/1303/204/11/171 鈥?Fortnightly Casualty Returns, All Ranks R.F.C., Feb. 1915 鈥?Nov. 1916.)

ParticipantI must admit it does not work for lower grade newspaper print pictures (big dots) but for better quality (small dots) you can get good results. Its just a matter of experimentation. I’m no expert on this sort of thing but I always like to try and improve an image if I can.12/03/2021 21:51:48 in reply to: Picture Enhancement – 1533 2/A.M. C.A. ParticipantDoes anyone know if a better picture exists of 1/A.M. No.411 Reginald George Cudmore who was killed in a flying accident with Lt. John Empson on 15 May 1914? The only picture of him I have found so far was published in The Courier newspaper dated 16 May 1914.
He is stood next to Lt. Empson, side on to the camera, shielding his eyes from the sun.Robert
