Andy, the monument is at Via del Solstizio, 35, 31040 Nervesa della Battaglia, TV. You can find a marker on Google maps. Mr Giusti is going even further in honouring Lt DG McLean; he is commissioning the construction of a replica Sopwith Camel at the Jonathan Foundation. It is hoped that it will be completed in time for the centenary of his death in 1918.

Lt Donald Gordon Maclean, 45 sqn seems to fit that description. KIA Italy 2 Feb 18. Originally from Ontario and an OTC cadet at Univ of Toronto his obit states that he was commissioned into the RNAS but transferred to the RFC.

I’m attending the unveiling of a statue to commemmorate his death at a local vineyard this Friday. McLean’s dogtags were found by workers at the vineyard last year – probably at his crash site – the Owner of the winery is Italian/ Canadian and his family and Company are honouring McLean’s sacrifice.
