According to War in the Air Vol 5 P426/7 on 5 August 1917 the Training Brigade became a Division with the sub-commands becoming Training Brigades: Northern (York), Eastern (London) and Southern (Salisbury). An addiitonal Training Command, known as Western Group, was formed under Colonel UJD Bourke in September 1917. Can anyone tell me where the HQ of ‘Western Group‘ was & the aerodromes it was responsble for ? The otherwise excellent Ray Sturtivant Aviation News article on training (reproduced in the C&CI Journal) mentions Northern, Eastern & Southern Groups; but makes no mention at all of Western Group.
