Has anyone read this ? – Mike O‘Connor gave it a good review !
I‘m interested to know if it contains much/anything on Bishop‘s time as ‘Officer Commanding-designate of the Canadian Air Force Section of the General Staff, Headquarters Overseas Military Forces of Canada.’

There was some discussion about this book over on The Aerodrome a few years ago (as part of a long Billy You Know Who controversy thereon). A search under Greenhous should bring up the relevant thread(s)

Thanks. I’ve just read through this. Unfortunately, it is the usual Bishop or Greenhous is the villain debate.
http://www.billybishop.net/bishop1.html has Bishop going to Canada ‘to report on progress’ in October, and being on the boat back to Britain when the Armistice is declared. Wise’s ‘Canadian Airmen and the First World War’ notes that Bishop resigned his post before going to Canada.
Bishop’s service records – available on line at http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca – note that Bishop when to Canada on ‘a special mission’. This was soon concluded and he went on leave, leaving the nascent Canadian Air Force without an officer until McKeever was posted in to 81 Squadron on 26.11.1918.
All seems a bit odd – I do wonder if Bishop was sacked ?
Lieut.-Col. Bishop, V.C., D.S.O., M.C., D.F.C. In the London Gazette of September 6th it was announced that Capt. (Temp. Maj.) W. A. Bishop, V.C., D.S.O., M.C., D.F.C. (Capt., Can. Light Horse) relinquished his commission in the R.A.F. on August 5th on ceasing to be employed. In a War Office supplement to the same Gazette it was announced that Capt. (Actg. Maj.) W. A. Bishop ceased to be seconded for duty with R.A.F. and was appointed Temp. Lieut.-Col. in the Canadian Cavalry, dated August 5th. It has since been announced in the London Gazette that Lieut.-Col. Bishop is appointed General Staff Officer, 1st grade. He will be attached to the Canadian Headquarters in London for the purpose of organising and training the newly authorized Canadian Air Force. Flight P1022. SEPTEMBER 12, 1918
