ParticipantHi there.
Could members please direct me to info, books, research, etc, referring to this unit.
Assume you all saw the Indian head fabric piece that recently sold for over £2K on fleebay to an anonymous buyer.
Many thanks, Simon.

ParticipantHi Simon,
Not sure if this will be of any help but you could try the albindenis.free.fr website.
Alternatively you could try theaerodrome.com forum – I’d be surprised if they couldn’t help you with some suggestions.

ParticipantYep…………thanks for that. Been there, done that, but nothing that gives me a GOOD historical read on this one.
I have a few nice period books. There’s a new ‘Kiffin’ book out soon…………….but wondered if the experts know of a REALLY great historical read on these few Americans who volunteered whilst the rest of the US sat back and watched the destruction.
Regards, SF.

ParticipantMy own favourite is Flight Into Hell by Edwin C Parsons. Disregard the pulp-fiction sounding title, this is a well written account of his time in the original Lafayette Flying Corps. Parsons chose to stay with the French Air Service instead of transferring to th Americans and later flew with Spa 3. Les Cigognes. My copy is dated 1938, a lucky find on a backstreet bookstall.
On line you should be able to find these:
The Lafayette Flying Corps by Hall & Nordhoff (2 vol).
Go Get ‘Em by William Wellman.
Journal des marches et op?rations pendant la campagneby Georges Thenault (2 vols). Handwritten mission logs.
One man’s war : the story of the Lafayette escadrille / by Lieutenant Bert Hall and Lieutenant John J. Niles.
High Adventure A Narrative of Air Fighting in France by James Norman Hall.
Flying for France. With the American Escadrille at Verdun by James R. McConnell (James Rogers).04/11/2016 11:36:00 #53150Nick Forder
ParticipantThere is an Osprey (Aviation Elite 17) by Jon Guttman, who did a series in Windsock also, as well as the Herbert Molloy Mason jr book, and a Schiffer tome ?
