I’ve been able to source a scan of this IWM photo of a downed aeroplane at Suvla.
With these zoomed-in details, I’m hoping forum members can help identify the machine.
Is it from the French squadron?
Escadrille MF 98 T had these machines (source) –
March 1915
8 Maurice Farman MF 11 incl. numbers 458, 459, 461, 942
23 June 1915
Additional 4 MF 11 (80hp) and 3 MS type L (incl no. 442)
End August 1915
First MF 11 (130hp)
The first picture attached is from the French website. Caption “En septembre 1915, vue d’un Farman MF 11 posé à Sulva lors de la tentative britannique de contourner les lignes ennemies.”
The other pictures are details from the IWM photo.
The tail markings in photo 2 are, I am thinking, French.
Looking at RNAS machines in this theatre, I haven’t seen any with vertical tail markings in early to mid-1915, but there are plenty of photos of French machines in this livery.
Having said that, my search has been largely restricted to what’s online.
