Hi Errol,
Not much to add I’m afraid.
I’m not convinced the information on his service record that was extracted from his casualty card is correct…
I have AIR1 records that cover most of the 1915 period, and records that should correspond with the service record, but they don’t.
This is what I have found: –
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. Part of a Draft held in readiness for departure overseas, which was ordered to report to Embarking Southampton by 10p.m. on 6 March 1915, to proceed overseas for duty with the Expeditionary Force (AIR1/1307/204/11/196 鈥?R.F.C. Other Ranks Overseas Drafts, Feb. 鈥?Oct. 1915)
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. Posted to Headquarters 9 March 1915 (AIR1/2146/209/3/126: Weekly compilations from R.F.C. Daily Orders Part II.)
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. H.Q. 3 Wing, Admitted to Hospital 11 April 1915 (AIR1/2146/209/3/126: Weekly compilations from R.F.C. Daily Orders Part II.)
3389, 2/A.M. Irwin, B. Posted to Home Establishment 24 February 1916 (AIR1/1303/204/11/171 鈥?Fortnightly Casualty Returns, All Ranks R.F.C., Feb. 1915 鈥?Nov. 1916.)
